Beekeeping course

Due to the current COVID-19 situation, we will be unable to conduct our in-person Introductory Beekeeping courses in 2022. We are concerned about keeping our participants safe and instead, we will be conducting a live, virtual course in April.

The HBRC will be conducting a Virtual Introductory Beekeeping course for 2022. Participants will have access to pre-recorded lectures and videos from the HBRC’s YouTube channel.

The course will be divided into 4 modules. Participants will be expected to review the videos for each module ahead of a pre-scheduled live, online, 1-hour Question and Answer period, via Zoom Meetings.

During this live Q&A session, participants are free to clarify and discuss any information from the assigned videos. We recommend that participants watch the videos for each module as close to the Q&A session as possible, and/or take notes on what they would like to discuss. Questions regarding topics of later modules should be reserved for the appropriate Q&A periods.

Participants will need to be able to use Zoom Meetings. There are many online tutorials, for anyone who is not familiar with this platform.

How to use Zoom tutorials:

Due to the large number of people expected to be attending, we will ask everyone to keep their cameras off, microphones muted, and to use the chat for questions. Depending on time constraints, there may be an opportunity for some people to turn on their mics to ask their questions verbally.

We plan to record the live Q&A sessions and make them available to participants for a period of time after the end of the course.

Participants will also need to be able to access our pre-recorded presentations using Google Drive or Dropbox. There are many online tutorials, for anyone who is not familiar with these platforms.

LIVE VIRTUAL COURSE: Registration (and payment) is online, through Eventbrite. Participants will be able to access a recording of the course for one week after the course completion.
