What’s Happening | Spring/Summer 2025

This spring, the HBRC successfully hosted its Introductory Beekeeping Course on April 26-27 and May 10-11, 2025. Sixty-eight participants took part in the two-day, hands-on experience, combining classroom lectures with outdoor hive demonstrations. We are pleased to share that next year’s course will be held at our new facility.

On May 26, we are thrilled to share an exciting milestone with our supporters and community that we officially received occupancy for our new facility near Stone Rd and Victoria Rd. This marks a major step forward, allowing us to begin moving into the building. With the beekeeping season in full swing, our relocation will happen gradually over the coming year, with staff working from both our current and new sites. We know many of you are eager to visit, while we’re not quite ready for public tours, our research and outreach remain in full swing, and the new building is already helping us in meaningful ways. A public opening celebration is planned for June 2026. In the meantime, enjoy a virtual tour of our new space using the link below.

We are also excited to launch our new Photo Gallery, curated by PhD student Wissarut Sukhaket, who is working part-time with HBRC this summer. The gallery showcases the world of honey bees, the art of beekeeping, and ongoing research into bee health and behaviour.
